We would like to propose adding official support for Laravel Octane to the Ploi Cloud roadmap.
Octane has become an increasingly important performance component for many Laravel applications, especially those requiring high throughput, low latency, and efficient handling of large workloads.
Native Octane support in Ploi would provide significant benefits to a wide range of users:
- Substantial performance improvements through long-running worker processes.
- Reduced response times for APIs, dashboards, and high-traffic applications.
- Better resource utilization, especially in queue-heavy or real-time systems.
- Compatibility with modern Laravel architecture, including Swoole, RoadRunner, and concurrent task execution.
For many teams, Octane support is now a key requirement when choosing a hosting/control-panel provider. Adding this functionality would strengthen Ploi’s position among developers running performance-critical Laravel applications.
We kindly request that Ploi considers introducing first-class Octane management tools including installation, configuration, service supervision, and log handling as a future roadmap item.
serversideup also comes with a FrankenPHP-variant: https://serversideup.net/open-source/docker-php/docs/image-variations/frankenphp
Maybe a general way of supporting octane would be to also let the user pick this variant, when choosing the PHP-Version. That + defining the entry-command would also enable non-laravel apps to run with FrankenPHP, as well as running octane.
