We are seriously considering to move to custom Ploi Cloud containers with pre-installed extensions. This will help us with several things:
- We will decrease the build times because images are pre built, especially on projects that use a lot of PHP extensions this will help a lot.
- We will remove the dependency on the US Docker Hub.
We've implemented Docker layer caching and moved the images to our own registry which greatly decreases the build time:
