Hello Ploi Cloud Team,
First of all, great work on Ploi Cloud — the product, UX, and especially the transparent pricing are excellent. It’s one of the most promising Laravel-friendly cloud platforms I’ve seen.
I’d like to suggest a feature that I believe would add significant value to Ploi Cloud and make it even more competitive with serverless-style platforms like Vercel, Fly.io, and Cloud Run:
App Hibernation (Scale-to-Zero) for Idle Applications
What the feature would do
Allow applications to automatically hibernate (scale down to zero or minimal resources) after a configurable period of inactivity, then wake up automatically when traffic resumes.
Why this matters
-
Cost efficiency for small & early-stage projects Many users (especially indie developers, startups, and SaaS builders) run apps with low or sporadic traffic. Hibernation allows them to stay on Ploi Cloud long-term without unnecessary costs.
-
Perfect fit for staging, demos, and MVPs Temporary environments don’t need to stay fully running 24/7.
-
Competitive differentiation This would position Ploi Cloud closer to “serverless convenience” while keeping the power of real Laravel apps — a strong differentiator in the market.
-
Customer retention & upsell Users can start cheap with hibernation-enabled apps and later upgrade to always-on or higher-performance plans as their traffic grows.
Possible implementation ideas (optional)
- Inactivity-based hibernation (e.g. after X minutes with no requests)
- Manual hibernate / wake toggle
- Optional cold-start notification or timeout configuration
- Disabled for apps using workers or always-on processes (opt-in only)
I understand this is not a trivial feature, but I truly believe it aligns perfectly with Ploi Cloud’s vision of simplicity, transparency, and developer-first experience.
Thanks again for building such a great platform. I’d be happy to provide more feedback or use this feature early if you ever open a beta.
Best regards
This would be a great addition, definite +1 here.
One of the major disadvantages for us on ploi cloud is our testing/acceptance environments, it's very costly to have those environments running. For (pre)production it has been a great experience, but having multiple environments of the same project is a challenge compared to VPS and other Serverless solutions.
We have some Laravel-only projects on Laravel cloud, and our testing environments there can be hibernated, allowing us to test without having costly environments set up. It would allow us to even bring small clients more easily to Ploi Cloud while maitaining our current test/acceptance/production flow.
For bigger clients that use more resources, it allows the testing environments resources/scaling to be the same as production, allowing for better testing.
This feature will help me even more to convince the team to move more projects here (we're already in the process of moving some new projects now).
